Erasing the stigma of mental illness the best way I know how

“A diagnosis of mental illness, if I had thought about it then, would have been dangerous — a threat to my entire personality. Would my sense of humor still get laughs or would people wonder if it was the product of a sick mind?  More important, would people look at me differently or stop making jokes at my expense out of a fear of setting off the crazy person?  I didn’t intend to find out. No way. I wasn’t “sick,” and I had nothing to talk about.”
